A FAMILY TRADITION
Our Chiropractic Family Tradition started in 1947 when Betty and D.D. Nichols graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College. In 1952, Donald Dean Nichols (or "D.D."), and his wife Betty came to Paola, Kansas from Iowa to open a chiropractic office in the Baehr building on the corner of Silver and Wea Streets on the Town Square.
Dr. Dean Nichols II started practice with his father in 1969 after graduating from Palmer as well. When Dr. D.D. passed away in 1971, Dr. Betty and Dr. Dean took over the practice. They built the chiropractic office at 708 Baptiste Drive in 1973, which is now BodyMaxx Fitness Center. Dr. Dean then moved to California and opened a practice.
In 1973, Penny Nichols graduated from Kansas State University and married a fellow K-State graduate, Larry W. Fulk. They moved to Paola with their 6 week old daughter Jaime following Dr. Fulk's graduation from Palmer Chiropractic College in 1976. He then entered into practice with Dr. Betty Nichols. In 1985, Dr. Larry Fulk purchased the practice.
Dr. Tom K. Nichols, Dr. D.D. and Dr. Betty's younger son, graduated from Palmer Chiropractic College in 1977. He then moved back to Paola in 1984 to practice with Dr. Fulk. After practicing with Dr. Fulk, Dr. Tom took a teaching position at Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, where he still teaches today.
In December of 2002, Dr. Fulk's daughter, Dr. Jaime N. (Fulk) Trent, joined him in practice. Dr. Jaime graduated from Cleveland Chiropractic College. She brought knowledge of acupuncture to the practice to further serve our patients. Since that time, she has studied extensively in the area of whole food nutrition and the effects it has on the body.
In July of 2005, Dr. Fulk moved his practice to 1313 Baptiste Drive to allow for expansion of both the practice and the fitness center.
His son, Dr. Justin L. Fulk, joined the practice in September of 2005 after graduating from Cleveland Chiropractic College. He brings to the practice knowledge of sports injury and rehab.
In January of 2013, Fulk Chiropractic, Nutrition & Acupuncture added a second location in Spring Hill, KS. The doctors each split their time between the two offices.
